560 million year old deep-sea organism fossils dating to the Ediacaran period remain in eroded rock formations in the Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Newfoundland’s southern shore. Fossils include a rare frond, a Beothukis mistakensis, Fractofuses misrai, a spindle shaped fossil and Charniodiscus procerus, a short frond, long stem and basal holdfast disc which anchored it to the sediment.
