Bosnia's historic bridge hosts Red Bull Cliff Diving competition

MOSTAR, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - SEP. 5, 2025: Mostar’s historic Old Bridge hosted the Bosnia and Herzegovina stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series on Friday, Sep. 5.Divers leapt from a platform on the historic Old Bridge, drawing hundreds of spectators to the annual competition.The event, which featured both men’s and women’s categories, offered colorful scenes as athletes plunged into the Neretva River from the Ottoman-era landmark.The competition is considered as one of the original “extreme sports” and it goes back centuries. Judges assess dives based on three specific criteria, including their posture at the bridge, the quality of the dive and how well they contact the water, with the less splash the better.The Old Bridge was built between 1557 and 1566 during Ottomans in Bosnia, and it is considered as one of the most beautiful monuments left from that time.
