Congressman Cuellar remarks supporting final FY24 appropriations package

House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security Ranking Member Henry Cuellar says in debate on a minibus appropriations bill with funding for Defense, Financial Services and General Government, Homeland Security, Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, the Legislative Branch, and State and Foreign Operations that he does not just visit but lives at the southern border with Mexico, that his title of the bill includes robust provisions to bolster border security, such as increased Border Patrol agents and additional CBP officers at bridges to counter fentanyl, while also addressing support staff needs for agents and allocating funds for marine operations against drones, TSA pay equity, and resources for food, shelter programs, and deportation proceedings for aliens lacking rights.
