(Original Caption) The National Urban League's 1948 two friends' award were presented today to Branch Rickey, President of the Brooklyn Dodgers, and Jackie Robinson, negro star of the Dodgers, in recognition of their outstanding teamwork by a white and negro person in advancing interracial accord. Shown during the presentation ceremony a the Essex House, are, left to right; Lloyd K. Garrison, President of the Urban League; Jackie Robinson; Branch Rickey, and Secretary of Defense James V. Forrestal.
