Saint Mark; Book of Hours, circa 1410. Additional Info:In a miniature above the opening words of his gospel, Saint Mark is shown seated with his symbol, a winged lion. The floor's pattern alternates squares of black with a gold diamond and green with a gold circle. The rear wall is distinguished by a motif of large diamonds circumscribed in white that contain gold squares throughout, blue squares in the center, and red squares toward the border.
