FORT COCHIN, KERALA, INDIA - 2005/03/01: A man practicing an early morning head stand - a yoga asana - on the beach at Fort Cochin, Kerala. A 5000 year old health science, ayurveda was born in the Himalayas, but evolved and continued in Kerala - a slender strip of tropical lushness at the tip of the Indian land mass. Practiced as a life form, there are more ayurvedic hospitals in Kerala than orthodox, most of the state's inhabitants turning to the ancient health science before Western methods.
