Kapitein Boyton van leven-bewarende apparatuur - Stockillustratie

Captain Paul Boyton (aka ‘The Fearless Frogman’) of the New Jersey Life Saving Service in Atlantic City promoted the use of a special suit made from vulcanised rubber which enabled a person to stay afloat and remain relatively safe by use of air pumped into his suit. Boyton was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1848. The suit was actually invented by C.S. Merriman of New York but Boyton was a well-known adventurer and ‘aquatic entertainer’ who was an ideal candidate for its introduction to market.
