Long-tailed shrike bird is a typical shrike, living in dry open habitats and often found perched clearly atop bushes or on branches of dead trees. The mask darkens through the broad eyes and covers the forehead in most subspecies and the entire head is black in tricolor and nasutus subspecies. The tail is narrow and passes with a pale rufous on the outer feathers.
