Illuminated autumn scenery, well-polished table draw photographers to former temple in Otsu

Video footage taken on Nov. 25 shows the garden surrounding the Former Chikurin-in temple, designated as a cultural asset by Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, illuminated in a trial effort by the city to attract visitors with smartphones and cameras to the spot. The numbers of visitors to the former temple rose dramatically this year after officials placed a low, well-polished table in one of the halls overlooking the garden, allowing visitors to capture both the scenery and its reflection for Instagram-worthy shots.
