Nearly five years after the demise of Split Enz, he speaks of an "abiding loyalty" which means that his third solo album, daringly titled Tim Finn, is very much a singer- with-the-session-men project.Not any hacks, of course — the album's polish and verve comes courtesy of highly respected American pros. But Finn seems to have retreated from the intense collaborative writing and playing partnerships he formed for 1986's Big Canoe - the only trace of a more long-term association is that the keyboard player/producer is Mitchell Froom, who worked so successfully with young Master Neil Finn in a little project called Crowded House.
