PENANG, MALAYSIA: This photo taken 26 December 2004 in Penang, northwest Malaysia, shows row boats and debris littering the streets following a tsunami, or tidal wave, that hit the region after an earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale hit the neighboring Indonesian island of Sumatra. Thousands of people are reportedly dead after being swept away by a tidal wave that has hit Malaysia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka following the deadly quake.
