27th March 1948: The sumptuous film studios that Mussolini built outside Rome at Cinecitta to glorify Italy as a fascist power. The site was requisitioned after the liberation as a camp for displaced persons. Still used for this purpose today, lack of properly equipped film studios leave Italian film makers to improvise as best they can.
