Cleveland, O.: Jerry Lucas (right), three-time All-American basketball player from Ohio State, shakes hands with George Steinbrenner, president of the Cleveland Pipers, after the much sought after basketeer signed a two-year contract May 16th with the American Basketball League team here. Sitting in center is Lucas' wife, Treva. Lucas indicates his salary would be about $10,000 a season; he would also get his investments worth about $40,000. He said he decided to sign with the Pipers partially because he would be able to complete two quarters of work at Ohio State and get his degree before the start of the A.B.L.'s 1963-64 season.
