DIYARBAKIR, TURKEY - 2024/09/24: Protesters hold a banner with the slogan "Our language is our identity" during a demonstration against the detention of 25 Kurds at the Kurdish language association. In Turkey, police raided the Mesopotamia Language and Culture Research Association (MED-DER) in Diyarbakir, which offers Kurdish language classes, and Payiza Kurdî, a Kurdish bookshop. The raid resulted in the detention of 25 people, including the association's administrators and Kurdish language teachers. In response, representatives of civil society organizations and political parties gathered in Sheikh Said Square to protest the detentions.
