UNITED KINGDOM : Passengers leaving a train at Liverpool Street station at 9.00 am on 29 June 1949. This station was the busiest terminus in London at this time. During the 1940s lines into the station were electrified, to provide a more efficient and faster service, although the station was still very crowded at peak times.
