Root mouth jellyfish on the beach of Norderney
13 November 2023, Lower Saxony, Norderney: Hundreds of blue, dead root-mouth jellyfish lie on the west beach of the East Frisian island of Norderney. Marine biologists assume that the current has washed the creatures onto the beach. As the jellyfish decompose relatively quickly, you have to be in the right place at the right time to see the spectacle, said the marine biologist. Some visitors to the island had already expressed concern about the many blue jellyfish. But there is no danger to humans, said the expert.(to dpa: "Masses of blue jellyfish washed up on the west beach of Norderney") Photo: Volker Bartels/dpa (Photo by Volker Bartels/picture alliance via Getty Images)
