Police Patrol with Machine Gun on Truck

(Original Caption) 5/6/1919-Lawrence, Massachusetts- A machine gun mounted on a police truck that is patrolling the streets of Lawrence, MA, where striking textile workers have caused violent riots and general disorder. The gun is manned by policemen who have been recently discharged from overseas service. In command is Sergeant Joseph Casey of Company F, 101st Regiment, decorated in France for bravery. Reports that strike leaders had arranged a monster demonstration to signal the 14th week of the strike in Lawrence led the police to take extra precautions. During recent riots, police were fired upon and assaulted.
