(Original Caption) Last year, the Mets pitching staff was riding high, wide, and handsome in the stretch run which not only gave them the pennant, but also carried them through the World Series. Now, with Tom Seaver, (L) faltering, and the Pittsburgh Pirates getting an edge, the Mets have taken on pitching help in the form of Dean Chance, (C), who was acquired from the Cleveland Indians, on September 18th. He is welcomed to the Mets by Seaver and Gary Gentry, who faces the Pirates on September 19th. Seaver's next time on the mound is to be September 20th.
