UNITED KINGDOM - JUNE 24: Britains first million pound footballer, Trevor Francis (born 1954) signs autographs outside Maine Road. Francis began his career at Brimingham City however in 1979 his talents were noticed by the reigning League Champions and League Cup holders Nottingham Forest who made an offer of over one million pounds for him. In 1981 he moved to Manchester City for also a million pound fee. Francis has also played for Sampdoria winning the Coppa Italia with them in 1985, as well as with Atlanta and Ranger FC with whom he won the Scottish Cup in 1988. He has been a player manager for Queens Park Ranger and Sheffield Wednesday. In 1996 he returned to Birmingham City as manager but left in 2001.
