The annual Purim parade held by the city's Jewish minority was allowed to proceed this year despite the cancelation or curtailment of similar festivities in other cities Israel due to the ongoing war in Gaza and objections by some families of the Israelis still held hostage by Hamas. The Hebron march attracts some of Israel's most right wing and extreme voices in Israeli society, including Knesset member Orit Malka Strock who is the Minister of Settlements and National Missions.
