1953 Yankees Running on Field

(Original Caption) Antic climax. New York: Hank Bauer of the Yankees scores the winning fun of the 1953 World Series, jubilant Yankees erupt from their dugout (3). Third base coach Frank Crosetti, still chasing Bauer, passes Dodger catcher Roy Campanella (39), who is walking off the field. Gil McDougald, who was not needed at the plate, happily waves his bats. Joe Collins (15) and Yogi Berra (8) are among the Yankees greeting Bauer (3), as he passes umpire Bill Stewart. A Yankee batboy picks up the bat (4) used by Bill Martin to hit the game-and-series-winning single. Campanella heads for the Brooklyn dugout as Bauer finally begins to slow up (4). One Yankee (4, lower right) seems to be getting ready for the next reception -- Billy Martin. Crosetti, still running (4), grabs his hat as he nears his goal at last.
