"The Post Office issued this 4-cent stamp honoring Journalism and Freedom of the Press on September 22, 1958, through the Columbia, Missouri, post office. The stamp was issued on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri. ..The stamp features a hand holding an old-fashioned quill pen, a simplified stylization of a hand printing press, and horizontal and vertical bars, suggesting type bearers.
