The castle of Skopelos"nAt the top of the hill is the castle of Skopelos."nThe first fortification dates back to antiquity when the settlement was called Peparithos."nThe Byzantines then built a wall following this fortification, and the last repair seems to have been done by the Venetians in the 13th century AD."nAs in many Greek islands, the castle is an integral part of the traditional preserved settlement of Chora, part of which is shown in the photograph and includes the Church of the Annunciation.
