Work of arts out of civil war leftovers in Syria

DAMASCUS, SYRIA - FEBRUARY 13: Syrian artist Mustapha Ramadan who is also known as 'Abu Ali' in his neighbourhood says that his goal is to convey Syrian people's peace message to the world while effortlessly creating a palm tree out of bullet cartridges he meticulously pieces together on leather belts at his work shop in Douma in Eastern Ghouta Region of Syrian capital Damascus on February 13, 2017. Even a war setting as gruesome and bloody as Syrian civil-war can't stop the resident of the besieged town of Douma from spreading peace messages through work of arts he created out of the war leftovers which he refers as 'death machines'. Mortars turn to violins, bullet cartridges to palm trees and flowers, bullet cartridges of AK-47s to date palms at the skillful hands of this passionate artist. He tells that he has been making souvenirs out of ammunitions for 4 years. Douma which was the major flash point of the demonstrations against Syrian regime during the early stages of the civil war and seen many armed clashes has been under the siege of Syrian regime forces for almost 4 years.
