At the start of his year-long transformation, he learns from Dr. Terry Schaack at the California Health and Longevity Institute that, since he carries the majority of his fat on his abdomen, he is at high risk for a variety of cardiovascular complications. With Tony's health at stake, Chris works with him to undo all of the years of unhealthy living that led up to this point. But the road to health is rougher than Chris had anticipated for his client: During his 12-month journey, Tony faces homelessness, the unexpected death of a beloved family member and a change in his engagement, all while taking on the race of his life to regain his health before his 50th birthday.
