NEW DELHI, INDIA - MARCH 22: (File photo) Rajendra Singh, (born 6 August 1959), "The waterman of India," an Indian campaigner from Alwar district in Rajasthan has been conferred "the Nobel Prize for water" award by The Stockholm International Water Institute for bringing water to 1,000 villages, on June 1, 2010 in New Delhi, India. Rajendra Singh, dubbed "the Water Man of India," used a modern version of the ancient Indian technique of rainwater harvesting to address the problem of water crisis in arid Rajasthan, reported the BBC. He won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership in 2001 for his pioneering work in water management.
