An elderly man who said he had to flee his home relaxes at an evacuation center administered by the German Red Cross (DRK) for people forced to evacuate their homes due to rising floodwaters from the Elbe river on June 9, 2013 in Magdeburg, Germany. Magdeburg is enduring its highest floodwaters in its 1,200 year history and local authorities have called on 23,000 residents to evacuate their homes. Catastrophic flooding has hit portions of southern and eastern Germany that has left at least seven people dead and forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.
