Young Woman Beaten At McDonalds Is Brain Dead
OFFENBACH, GERMANY - NOVEMBER 28: Mourners attend an evening vigil outside the Sana clinic to commemorate Tugce Albayrak on the day her parents agreed to let doctors take her off life support systems on November 28, 2014 in Offenbach, Germany. University student Tugce Albayrak, 22, intervened at a McDonald's restaurant in Giessen when two teenaged girls were being accosted by men in the bathroom of the restaurant on November 22. One of the men, Sanel M., reportedly waited for her in the parking lot and punched Tugce so hard that she received brain damage after falling on the pavement. Doctors have since declared her brain dead and Tugce's parents have agreed that she will be removed from life support system today, on Tugce's 23rd birthday. The incident has shocked the nation and hundreds of people have attended vigils in response to the attack in recent days. (Photo by Hannelore Foerster/Getty Images)
