Kester Street Elementary School in Sherman Oaks is one of the last schools without air conditioning.
Kester Street Elementary School in Sherman Oaks is one of the last schools without air conditioning. One of the reasons is that modernist architect Richard Neutra designed the school so previous plans to install air conditioning were scratched because they would destroy the integrity of the school. Un like most schools in LAUSD this one has green grass and open space and shade for kids to sit in with clean walls (Photo by Joel P. Lugavere/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)
