Diet Debate on Security Bills Continues
TOKYO, JAPAN - MAY 28: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe responds to the question by Democratic Party lawmaker Kiyomi Tsujimoto during a special committee to deliberate the 11 security bills at the lower house of the diet on May 28, 2015 in Tokyo, Japan. The three new conditions were established along with the change in the government reinterpretation of the Constitution to lift Japan's self-imposed ban on exercising the right to collective self-defense. The three conditions that allow for use of force are: when an armed attack against a foreign country that is in a close relationship with Japan occurs and threatens Japan's survival and poses a clear danger to fundamentally overturn the people's right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness; when there is no other appropriate means available to protect the people; and when use of force is kept to the minimum required level.
