CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - 2013/04/23: Information graphic display at the Hall of Opium Museum, a museum which presents the history of opium and examines the effects of abuse on individuals and society. The northern part of Thailand is geographically characterized by multiple mountain ranges, which continue from the Shan Hills in bordering Myanmar and Laos comprising several hill tribal groups, such as Lisu, Lahu, Akha, Karen, and Thai Yai. Several years ago this area was one of the world's largest opium producing areas because in the past the opium poppy was grown as a lucrative crop .
