Homeless Census Taken in Arlington
ARLINGTON, VA - JANUARY 29: Homeless count volunteer Donna Krupa holds a flashlight on other team members (off camera) as they made their way around an area where there were homeless camps along the Potomac River near downtown Rosslyn, VA. The Department of Housing and Urban Development recommends that communities take a "Point in Time" count of the homeless who are in their area every two years. This year, volunteers from Arlington Street People's Assistance Network (A-SPAN) fanned out in groups from 4pm to 7am to find, document and interview homeless folks in the Arlington area. They found them in doorways, metro stations, fast food restaurants, parks and abandoned buildings. When found, they answered a questionnaire and were given shelter, food and medical services information. (Photo by Michael S. Williamson/The Washington Post via Getty Images)
