FRANCE-HEALTH-CANCER-RESEARCH
French professor Paul Hofman poses at the entrance of his service, the Laboratory of Clinical and Experimental Pathology (LPCE) and tumor hospital integrated Biobank, on November 1, 2014 at the Pasteur Hospital in Nice, southeastern France. A French medical team led by Hofman announced on October 31 a major breakthrough in the early detection of lung cancer through a simple blood test, described as "a world first". According to the researchers, it is now possible to detect, in an at risk population of heavy smokers, lung cancer through a blood test, long before an X-ray is able to reveal any symptoms.
