SLIEMA, MALTA-MARCH 2008: Frank Xerri grows and markets 8 tonnes of Champignon mushrooms per week which are sold to restaurants and the general public in Malta. The mushrooms are grown under ideal conditions of darkness, humidity and controlled temperature in a cave near Sliema. During World War two the cave which is 40,000square feet, was used by the British and Maltese military to repair aircraft damaged in air battles fought in the skies over Malta with the German air force.
