Protest in Tahrir Square Against President Mohamed Morsi

CAIRO, EGYPT - NOVEMBER 23: Egyptian protesters gather in Tahrir Square, on November 23, 2012 in Cairo, Egypt. Thousands of Egyptian protesters gathered in central Cairo's Tahrir Square on Friday to protest against a new constitutional declaration issued yesterday by Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi, giving him sweeping powers, and extending the period of deadline for the drafting of Egypt's new constitution by two months. The seven-article declaration renders the president's decrees and laws immune from appeal or cancellation. It also protects both Egypt's Shura Council and Islamist-dominated Constituent Assembly from dissolution by the country's judicial authorities. The demonstration follows a week of violent protests in central Cairo, commemorating one year since a series of deadly protests named 'Mohammed Mahmoud', after the street they took place in, during November 2011.
