Ducks in their pen try to evade a farmer
Ducks in their pen try to evade a farmer in Nanzhuang village, 18 November 2005, on the outskirts of Anqing in central China's Anhui province where China announced its first human fatality from avian flu. China's ambitious pledge to vaccinate the nation's entire poultry stock - the biggest in the world - against bird flu will be almost impossible to complete and could even backfire, experts said 23 November. The enormous program requires the vaccination of the current stock of 5.2 billion poultry, plus all the birds that are raised in the future, making for an annual 14 billion birds.
