Coca growers gather for breakfast on October 24, 2013 in the community of Miraflores, near the Apolo region and the Peruvian border, 410 km north of La Paz, where on October 19 drug traffickers attacked a military unit working in the eraditation of coca plantations leaving four people dead and 14 injured. Two members of a military and police team working to eradicate coca crops died in the weekend ambush and hostage-taking involving Bolivian coca growers who according to Bolivian Interior Minister Carlos Romero, are linked to drug traffickers, reportedly with foreign connections.
